Overview of Lumphini Park:

Lumphini Park is one of the largest green spaces in Bangkok. This park is framed by Rama IV, Ratchadmari, Sarasin, and Wireless Roads.
Lumphini Park was founded in the 1920s and is spread over 500,000 square meters.
The path around the park is approximately 2.5 km in length and is a popular area for morning and evening joggers.
This is a famous spot among the locals for a round of light workouts, aerobics, and leisurely activities throughout the day.
This is a perfect place to spend the day with friends and family.
You can see the elderly practising Tai Chi couples lounging by the lakeside and the 9-to-5 workers relaxing on park benches or exercising in the evening.
On weekends, the park is populated by families picnicking, and children running all around the park and playing.
Activities to do:
The chirping voices of various birds will soothe you. Lumphini Park provides many facilities such as paddle boats, playgrounds, a basketball court, and an outdoor gym.
However, on Sundays, you can enjoy the local jazz outfits and a classical orchestra.
Apart from the soothing atmosphere, this park also has an open gym. Pay 50 Baht and you can access the open gym. This gym has a pretty nifty barbell with weights made from tyres.
Both men and women can do their activities comfortably at the same place. Besides this open gym, you will find a callisthenics park which is completely free to access.
In Lumphini Park you can also get a chance to see the monitor lizards. According to local beliefs, the monitor lizard is a harbinger of good fortune and prosperity.
These monitor lizards however do not harm humans. They mainly eat dead fish, turtles, and birds.
Soon these lizards will be relocated to the nearby wildlife sanctuary, but some will be left in the park as their presence catches the attention of many tourists.
If you feel like strolling through the park you can follow the maze-like pathways that overlook lush gardens, picnic areas, and an artificial lake.
You can also rent boats and float in peace in the artificial lake. Dogs are not allowed in this park which makes it safer.
This park has Bangkok’s first public library and dance hall.
The park opens at 4:30 in the morning and closes at 9 in the night.
